The real purpose of tolls is to pay for light rail.

Tolls could reach as high as $8.27 EACH WAY during peak use, about $4000/year.
Even at the minimum practical toll, $4.14 each way, Portland working commuters will
pay $2,000 per year in tolls. Portland commuters will need to have about a $2500
(before taxes) raise to cover the cost of the new tolls. ($5000 raise to pay the
$8.27 each way toll!)
The light rail portion will put two giant parking lots in downtown Vancouver, harming
the integrity of the community and causing even more congestion, downtown.
Light rail will be operating as late as 1:00A.M through neighborhoods, causing concerns
about crime and noise.
Light rail will end at Clark College. (Potential crime to college/high school students)
High Peak toll fees financially penalize the very people the new bridge is supposed
to be helping… Commuting Workers!
Want to take I-205 to get away from the tolls? Great idea, but…althought they deny
it, CRC will likely find a way to toll I-205 to stop motorists from escaping I-5’s
Look at your kids. When they are having your grandkids, they will still be paying
tolls. if some Portland officials get their way, these tolls will remain in perpetuity
to finance Portland’s failing Trimet on the backs of Washington commuters.
Portland’s Mayor: No light rail, no tolls = no project.

TThe functionally obsolete bridges over the Columbia River constrict commerce flow
and related corridor highway deficiencies compromise safety, freight mobility and
economic development. Progress is needed towards addressing these known deficiencies.
